Church History
According to the records kept and the information obtained from some who were there in the beginning the following facts were made available
On November 6, 1947, thirty-eight members left St. Paul Baptist church to organize another Church. The names of the members are as follows:

These Christians met at the home of Ms. Georgia 0. Slater. After devotion, a business meeting was held. Mr. Walter Bulger was made chairman of the group, Ms. Georgia 0. Slater, Secretary and Mr. Gus Williams, Treasurer.
A committee was appointed to find property that could be purchased for the erection of a church building. This committee consisted of the following people: Brothers: Lee Cotman, Frank Cone, Tilton Smith and Walter Bulger.
Two meetings were held at the home of Ms. Slater, the third was at the home of Mr. and Mrs. John Jones and Amanda Jones on November 11, 1947.
On November 16, 1947, the group met at the home of Mrs. Ada Johnson. Mrs. Johnson offered her shop room that was vacant for a permanent meeting place. The offer was gratefully accepted by the group. Subsequently, chairs and furniture needed was purchased.
The property committee reported finding a lot for $300 and recommended that the group purchase the lot. By motion it was adopted and the lot was purchased.
November, 1947, the group met and after discussing their being organized into a Baptist Church, a committee was appointed to invite the following churches: St. John, Miami; Macedonia, Miami; Mt. Olive, Ft. Lauderdale; Mt. Olive, Ft. Pierce; Bethel, Daytona Beach; Bethlehem, Titusville and St. Mathews, Wabasso; for the purpose of organization.
On December 3, 1947, the Pastors from the Churches invited met for the purpose of organizing the group into a Missionary Baptist Church. Reverends, J. A. Finlaysen, J. H. Dolphus and J. M. Coleman were among those present. Rev. Finlaysen was appointed Moderator and Rev. Dolphus, Clerk. The group organized and given the name Metropolitan Missionary Baptist Church. Five letters were presented to the committee for the organization.
Dr. Henry Daniel Parker was called to the Pastorate of Metropolitan Missionary Baptist Church.
Having been organized. The Church proposed a financial drive, the purpose of which was to build a Church edifice. Putting their heart and soul into this project, the present site was bought under the wise leadership of Pastor Parker. It was decided that a bank account be opened. One-Thousand One Hundred Fifty ($1,150.00) was raised for same.
